After years of spending my Cinco De Mayo throwing back shots of tequila with friends, this year’s holiday was enjoyed with my husband and 8-month-old baby bump on our Babymoon vacation in Nassau, Bahamas.

Babymoons have become a new phenomenon in recent years with happy parents-to-be embarking on a relaxing vacation ahead of their lives changing forever. There are plenty of reasons to consider a babymoon if you’re expecting a little one. Pregnancy can be stressful, and a babymoon provides an opportunity to relax and unwind before the arrival of the baby.

Enjoy classic French dishes at La Plume or savor the flavors of the Caribbean at Kanoo, taking your taste buds on a global culinary journey. We enjoyed dinner at every restaurant and saved our final dinner for Gordon’s On The Pier. We watched the sunset while eating delicious scallops, and salmon, and finished things off with a soft slice of cheesecake with fresh berries.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW/RELAXING VIBE

You can’t beat the captivating royal blue waters of the Bahamas. With Sandals Royal Bahamian seated along a private beach, guests can easily get swept away by the beauty the Caribbean island has to offer. Rooms are available for guests to enjoy some of the best beach views for vacationers. Between the beach accomodations, two pools, and variety of lounge areas, relaxation is essential. Sit back and order room service from your seated outdoor area. Walk along the romantic trail within the resort. Or sunbathe at the more serene pool where the quiet seekers take their dips. There’s something for everyone.

I enjoyed my pregnancy naps at the more lively pool where they gave guests free shots for winning movie trivia and dance contests. I could indulge in the drinking activities, but it was fun to watch! Adding to the relaxation are the massages available at the Red Lane Spa, including the Mother-To-Be massage for expecting mommys. Specifically designed for women in their second trimester and beyond, this massage helps alleviate aches and pains while providing the pampering you deserve. There are other massage packages for couples and unique body essential massages for soloists.

TONS OF ACTIVITIES/EXCURSIONS

While my physical movements were limited due to being eight months pregnant, there were plenty of activities and excursions available. We watched guests take a short five-minute ferry ride to Sandals Barefoot Cay, the resort’s private offshore island featuring all the amenities of a complete resort, including a private beach, pool, Jacuzzi, seafood restaurant, chic entertainment, and much more. Other available excursions include scuba diving, water sports of every kind, and day activities like tennis, croquet, basketball, beach volleyball, and more. There also parties around the resort day through night that good for those participating or the pregnant women who just want to eat, drink a lemonade, and enjoy the show.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOSHOOT

Guests will be happily surprised when they receive a slipped note under the door informing them of their scheduled photoshoot with the resort’s professional photo staff. We weren’t expecting to receive another professional maternity shoot but were so happy to take photos along the resort with my baby bump. A professional photographer guided us along the resort to pose for photos that came out beautiful. We ended the shoot on the beach and captured images that will serve as memories for a lifetime. The pricing for the photos are very affordable and a lot cheaper than a pricey maternity shoot at a studio. We went with a package that offered us a few prints and a curved glass framed photo that looks beautiful on our window sill during the day.
